Academics/Enrichment
We believe in you
Physical Education is an integral part of the St. Anne School curriculum. All students (K4-grade 8) participate in this enrichment. The instructional program is designed to promote and encourage physical fitness, develop fundamental motor skills, emphasize safety, stimulate social and cognitive development, and encourage decision-making, problem solving, and cooperation. All areas are addressed within the context of a Catholic environment supporting the honor system and sportsmanship at its best.
Physical Education students will be exposed to a wide variety of sports, skills, and activities. As a result students will have the necessary opportunities to refine their personal abilities and needs. Placing an emphasis on participation rather than on the development of the gifted athlete is a prime goal. The units of study vary greatly according to each grade's skill level.
Appropriate sportsmanship and team focused participation are taught and experienced to provide exercise that helps promote both mental and physical good health.
Every student is provided the opportunity to play age-appropriate, safe sports and activities such as basketball, baseball, kickball, volleyball, badminton, capture-the-flag, parachute games, ultimate frisbee, football, flag games, treasure robbery, indoor/outdoor soccer, soccer-bowling, lacrosse, jai lai, 3-ball, pac-man, tag games, chair ball, hockey, and scooter basketball.
Each spring, the Physical Education Department sponsors Field Day. SAS Field Day is packed with numerous indoor and outdoor games and activities like tug-of-war, horse shoes, balloon bust, water balloon volleyball, water balloon toss, obstacle courses, inflatable activities, potato sack race, bean bag toss, hoola hoop relay, scavenger hunt, and more!
This spring our middle school students have the unique opportunity to spend the day at the U.S. National Whitewater Center where they can choose to white water raft, kayak, mountain bike, hike, use the zip line, use the adventure course, and other exciting outdoor activities. This will serve as the middle school's Field Day.
Our Athletic and Sports Programs offer elementary soccer, flag football, basketball, and baseball. SAS Middle School students have the opportunity to compete with schools within the CGAA (Charlotte-Gastonia Athletic Association)League. St. Anne Catholic School has fielded teams in co-ed soccer, volleyball, co-ed cross country, girls and boys basketball, cheer leading, co-ed tennis and co-ed golf. The majority of our sports happen because of parent volunteers. From coaching to team manager, our middle school athletic program happens as a result of strong partnering between SAS and our parents.
