Accelerated
Reader (AR)
The last day
to earn AR points in 4th quarter is Friday, May 21st!
What is
AR?
AR
is a computer program that helps teachers manage and monitor children’s
independent reading practice. Your child
picks a book at his own level and reads it at her own pace. When finished, your child takes a short quiz
on the computer. (Passing the quiz is an
indication that your child understood what is read). Each test is worth a certain number of
points, depending on difficulty of text, number of words, etc. Points begin at .5 per book and go up from
there. Each grade level has a point goal
per quarter to qualify as an accelerated reader.
