Test Scores
Each year, St. Anne Catholic School students take the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) standardized test. The ITBS is administered to public and private school children across the country every year. Therefore, the results of these tests provide parents with information about how our students are performing relative to other students throughout the nation.
St. Anne Catholic School students have continually performed well above the national average on the Iowa Test of Basic Skills standardized test. It is the philosophy of the Diocese of Charleston to administer the test at the beginning of the school year. In late September the ITBS test allows us to compile a measurement of the strengths of our students as compared to their peers (both private and public)across the country. The school reviews the scores and, due to the timing of the test, can adjust curriculum if needed. Parents/guardians get a detailed report on the strengths of their children and can focus on any learning needs the testing may have overturned. St. Anne School's ITBS charts (below) show our student's scoring from the current year. The charts herein allow us to see our scores in red as they compare to millions of other children in the country (national mean-blue) and to the other 32 Catholic schools within the diocese of SC (noted in yellow). Please note on the charts below the reading and math scores and how they relate to the Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence measures. A private school's test scores must fall in the top 10% of the country in order for the school to receive this prestigious honor. The gold stars on the chars below denote top scores that fall into the top 10% of the country. The green stars show top 15% rank. It is also important to note that our scores are reported as percentile rank not raw scores. The percentile ranking show how strong our students are in each of 5 areas. Example: in reading, our second graders scored better than 86% of the other second graders taking the ITBS test in the nation.
St. Anne Catholic School students consistently score in the top tier of the country...year after year.
